CHAIN to Showcase 4D Immersive CAVE at Smart Airport – Technovation Conference and Exhibition 2018

The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has long been praised for its high efficiency, but how to become more intelligent is the big question. CHAIN Technology Development is keen to provide part of the answer with Hybrid Reality Platform (HRP) showcased at the Smart Airport – Technovation Conference and Exhibition held at Hong Kong Exhibition and Conference Centre on 28 & 29 November, 2018.

CHAIN was one of nearly 50 innovative companies that were invited as exhibitors at the HKIA Technovation Conference and Exhibition. CHAIN demonstrated the Hybrid Reality Platform features and capabilities related to airport operations to the hundreds of airport representatives in attendance. The reality model of Sky Bridge was showcased with CHAIN’s 4D Immersive CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment), designing for unparalleled first-person-view experience. Sky Bridge is due to open in 2020 that will connect two airport passenger buildings upon completion. Standing in the VR CAVE system, users could virtually walk in the Sky Bridge with gamepad-like controller to experience this great building two years in advance.

By tapping CHAIN’s Ultra-Touch Table, another equipment showcasing HRP application, users could grasp overview of the airport with only one hand. The reality model of the airport is rendered with high definition providing finest details. By choosing the buildings on touch-screen, user could take a virtual tour in L5 Arrivals Hall for IoT simulation and L7 Departures Hall for e-Gate simulation. Tapping the aircraft apron on screen, the automotive vehicle simulation would be shown as well.

“The airport gives the first impression to visitors from all over the world, ” said Wisdom Chan, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of CHAIN. “We are proud to present the current environments and future development of the Hong Kong International Airport with our  Immersive CAVE system. We believe an intelligent airport is an indispensable boost for a successful Smart City.”

Smart Airport – Technovation Conference and Exhibition 2018 brought together airport community members and industry experts, offering them a platform to exchange ideas on the latest trends in innovative technology and solutions for service optimization and excellence. The focus of this year’s event is on “Internet of Things (IoT)” and intelligence applications, echoing one of the essences of CHAIN’s development path.
